AYA HESHAM, MSC.
Therapist
Aya completed her MSc in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition at University College London in the UK and she holds a BA in Psychology from The American University in Cairo. She received clinical training at the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust as well as Ellern Mede Centre for Eating Disorders in London. During her training, Aya attended group therapy, motivational enhancement therapy and intake assessments of adolescents. Aya also trained as a psychologist in the Adult Unit of the Psychiatry Department of Kasr el Ainy Hospital, Cairo University, where she conducted intake assessments and provided psychotherapy to adults. She also attended inpatient group therapy and case presentations.

To further enhance her knowledge, Aya completed trainings and courses in various therapy modalities. She took the Intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training by the Linehan Institute, the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training by TraumaAid UK and the Schema Therapy Diploma by the International Society for Schema Therapy. Additionally, she completed the courses Enhanced Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT-E) by University of Oxford and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Depression & Anxiety.

Aya’s aim is to help clients manage and cope with their problems to be able to live a rich meaningful life. This is done through following an eclectic approach to be able to tailor therapy to each client’s individual needs. She believes therapy provides a judgement-free zone where clients can express themselves freely and receive unconditional support.
