MARIAM EL RAZZAZ, LMSW

Therapist

Mariam is an American/Egyptian who started her counseling career in New York City and just moved back to Egypt. 

​

  • She started working with children who suffered from neglect, emotional, sexual and physical abuse in a community-based organization. 

  • She then pursued her Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University in New York City, where she focused on clinical interventions with all family members.  

  • Mariam is also trained in EMDR therapy by Trauma Aid UK. “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.” (emdria.org)

  • She has extensive experience working with survivors (adults, adolescents and children) of domestic violence, intimate partner violence and sexual assault. 

  • Mariam worked doing individual, family and group sessions in a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, prison, community-based organizations and domestic violence/human trafficking shelters.

  • She is trained in using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. 

  • Beside being an experienced psychotherapist she is also currently the head of mental health department at « Banati » organization 

  • Mariam has experience working with a variety of issues, like, anxiety, depression, trauma, acculturation issues, domestic and intimate partner violence.

  • She is also experienced in working with parents and caregivers on addressing behavior issues and using positive discipline techniques.

  • Mariam’s various experiences and intensive trainings allowed her to work with clients from a strength-based perspective where she sees that every person has unique strengths that they can build on to become more resilient and achieve their goals and needs.

  • She conducts sessions in English and Arabic.
